Day 2 card for Stretch Your Stamps 2 class!

Time for my Day 2 card for OCC's Stretch Your Stamps 2 class. This time I CASE'd Laura Sterckx fab ombre card! I was blown away that she's only 16 - she has awesome skills!!!  My original background stamp I chose prior to class starting was Hero Art's Newspaper background stamp BUT when I watched the Day 1 videos I knew it would not do for these techniques SO I searched through my stamps and found a border stamp from Mama Elephant that I could use. Let me say that repeatedly stamping a border stamp in Versamark is not easy on the eyes but I digress!

Here's my card:

(Sorry for the lighting - dusk was setting in!)

I loved that thread thing Laura did behind the sentiment and have seen others use, but I have not gotten the hang of that so I went with a doily die to create a similar look.

Thanks for checking out my card! PS - I'll be creating another card for Day1 later this week - I need to hunt down some real water color paints to finish my card.

Ingredients: Mama Elephant Modern Borders; Paper Smooches Sentiment Sampler, Word Bubbles die; MFT Delicate Doilies

Day 1 - Card for Stretch Your Stamps 2!

Yeah OCC's Stretch Your Stamps 2 class has started! Background stamps were the most difficult ones for me to find in my stash - I don't have a lot that are large background stamps and very few with a reverse image. Today's card features a reverse image stamp and uses Shari Carroll's faux watercolor stamping technique. While I love her tile technique - I stink at lining up shapes SO I  decided to do a pared down version of the tiles. I was inspired to create a halloween card based on the distressed-ness (not a real word likely) of the stamped background image.

Here we go….

P.S. I MUST get more mini Distress Inks like NOW so I can have more range for these water coloring techniques that I am loving right now! Shopping trip time!

Here is a detail shot of so you can see the glitteryness from my Wink of Stella pen…

Thanks for checking out my card!

Happy Anniversary mixed media card

Hello! There have been several new challenge blogs popping up lately - one is the Mixed Media Card Challenge Blog. I love this concept! I just got some embossing paste and stencils so I could not wait to bust them out for this challenge!

The current challenge is: A Touch of Nature.

My parents wedding anniversary is approaching so I used this challenge to get the creative juices flowing.  After some trial and error, here is my card:

My background (water color paper) panel is water colored with distress inks and then I stamped my text, dribbled a few splotches of spray mist and then stenciled some embossing paste. That's a lot of "layering" for me! The flowers were embossed with text and then sponged with distress ink. This card took me a while to create but I love the result!

Here is a detail shot:

I love the challenge of mixed media and look forward to adding this to my "portfolio".  Thanks for visiting!

Ingredients: MFT Clearly Sentimental: Anniversaries, Blueprints #11 (panel): PTI Background Basics: Postmarks, Double Ended Banners, Notched Flowers; Hero Arts: Newspaper Background (on flowers); Heidi Swapp Lattice Stencil; Studio Calico Mr. Huey's Mists - Dewey; Wendy Vecchi Embossing Paste (white); Distress Inks

Hello Friend birthday card

I am on a challenge roll this week - so many awesome challenges to participate in! Today I have a card that I am submitting in two challenges:

First up, I found another new challenge blog - this one revolves around die cuts - The Cutting Edge Challenge Blog! SQUEAL! Great concept! This week is Challenge #2 and this is the inspiration:

I was inspired by the watercolor effect and those black splotches!

Next, Winnie & Walter stamps are having an awesome Share the Love Week featuring Tim Holtz's Distress Inks. Day 1 of Share the Love Week is to use Distress Inks to create a watercolor card! Um yes please!

I love being able to get a lot of mileage out of my supplies - and Tim Holtz's line of goodies excels at this!!!

Here is my card:

My background used Mustard Seed and Peacock Feathers Distress Inks, but I blended them a little too much when I smooshed my (water color) paper on the ink and got mostly green. Pretty none the less!

Here are some detail shots:

The top pic shows the Wink of Stella (clear) that I applied to my dragonfly along with a couple of splotches of Mr. Huey's Mist in Dewey on the wings. The flower and dragonfly were cut from water color paper that was smooched with Picked Raspberry and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks.

Here is the inside of my card - very simple - the sentiment is so bold that it can stand alone!

Thanks for visiting!

Ingredients: Winnie & Walter The Big, the Bold and the Happy; PTI Mega Mat Stack #4 die; Memory Box Chloe Set, Dragonfly dies

Happy 70th Birthday Tag

Hello! Today I am submitting my tag in two challenges.

The Tag You're It Challenge #1 - with this being the inspiration:

I am so excited that there is a challenge blog devoted to tags! What a great concept!

And also this tag is for the  Winnie & Walter's Share the Love Week Featuring Distress Inks - Day 5 is a Tag It! challenge.

My dad's 70th birthday is coming up so I made a special tag for him:

It's very simple in design - perfect for a guy! I was inspired by the sideways sentiment and the teal color from the inspiration photo.  My tag features Peacock Feathers and Black Soot Distress Inks.

Thanks for visiting!
