Tis the Season - Card #4

Here is my last card for Altenew's Card Class - Tis the Season. This card features die cut windows with some ink blending to bring the images to life!

Since I used Distress Oxide inks, I sprinkled some water over the images to bring out that oxide effect!

Thanks for visiting! I adore Altenew's classes and they have a last minute holiday card class coming up!

Ingredients: Altenew Festive Silhouettes

Tis the Season - Card #3

Welcome back for another card for Altenew's Card Class - Tis the Season. Today's card is about metallic elements on your card - the holidays are all about the sparkle and shine!

It is hard to see from the pic, but the tree is popped up on foam tape with a 2nd tree in gold behind it to create some hidden shine. The word "christmas" was watercolored with some watered down gold paint I had and finally some splatters of gold are the final touch.

Thanks for visiting!

Ingredients: Altenew Festive Silhouettes, Halftone Holidays

Tis the Season - Card #2

Back with another card for Altenew's Card Class Tis the Season. This card uses (mostly) non-Christmas/holiday products to create a holiday card. I rarely do this but loved stretching my creativity!  Here's my card:

Love this graphic card!

Thanks for visiting!

Ingredients: Altenew Halftone (stencil), Festive Silhouettes (die), Bold Alphabet (dies); PTI Peaceful Pinecones

Tis the Season - Card #1

I've started my Christmas cards - YAY - thanks to Altenew's card class Tis the Season. My first card is my take on the Rustic Holiday style (one of my favs).

I finally got my hands on some of that wood paper (Altenew sells it) and love it! I love deer images - they are perfect for cards for guys! The antlers of the deer are stamped on gold to add some holiday sparkle!

Thanks for visiting! More cards to come.

Merry Monday Christmas in July Challenge

I have 2 cards today to share!

The card above is inspired by Challenge #254 - Moose on a card.

Ingredients: Reverse Confetti Merry Christmoose, Winter Words Confetti Cuts, Big Chevron Pretty Panels, Branch Out

This next card was inspired by Challenge #250 - Rustic Christmas. I love these wood grain card stock panels and love highlighting it with a CAS design.

PTI Stamp-a-Faire - Year 8 - Bronze

Back for one last card for SAF! Whew so much inspiration and ideas - just not enough time to do them all!

For year 8, Jessica Frost-Ballas featured embellishing with bronze! I just got some cooper/bronzy embossing powder and gilding flakes so I was ready to go!

Here's that fox again! This time embossed in bronze. I liked the combo Jessica used with Tropical Teal and bronze so I incorporated that here along with a touch of gold to mix it up!

Thanks for visiting! SAF was AMAZING! I loved being inspired by all the designers with ideas that I'll use again and again.

Ingredients: PTI Stylized Autumn, Keep it Simple: Thanksgiving, Wet Paint Cuts, Fabulous Frames (banner), Linen/Canvas Impression plate

PTI Stamp-a-Faire - Year 7 - Wool

Time for another Stamp-a-Faire challenge - this time wool with Heather Nichols.

Heather showed us a layered wool technique using our favorite dies. Now while I don't sew, I can glue so that's what I did with my felt layers! Although I did bring in the look of stitching with the details on the leaves and the inset frame.

Thanks for visiting! One more SAF card to come!

PTI Stamp-a-Faire - Year 5 - Wood

Time for another PTI Stamp-a-Faire challenge!

I jumped ahead a few challenges/years and was inspired to make a card featuring a wood element for year 5. I LOVED seeing Lizzie Jones' creation but I have no wood veneer paper - it is on my list (and hard to find), so I ended up creating a card featuring a wood grain look using an inked embossing folder shown to us by Natasha Trupp. Can I just say I am loving all the guests PTI has brought on for this!!

Wood grain to me screams FALL or masculine cards. But this time I went with fall and brought out that cute little squirrel for my card! I love that I'm getting a head start on my Thanksgiving cards!

Thanks for visiting! Still a few more cards to come!

Ingredients: PTI Nuts for You, Keep it Simple: Thanksgiving; Sizzix Tim Holtz wood grain embossing folder

PTI Stamp-a-Faire Year 1 - Paper

Back again with another card for PTI's Stamp-a-Faire

Laura Bassen (love her!) provides colorful inspiration for the Paper challenge using scraps.  Although Laura used scraps of paper to die cut and create her piece, I pulled out my leftover precut "scraps" from previous projects and put my card together.

Every piece here was pulled from my leftovers. The only new item is the embossed sentiment. I love how this masculine card came together!

Thanks for visiting! More to come!

Ingredients: PTI Chevron Vertical Die Cover Plate, Birthday Bash Sentiments; MFT Stacking Stars

PTI Stamp-a-Faire Take Ten Challenge

It's Stamp-a-Faire time with Papertrey Ink!

This year PTI celebrates 10 years with a 3 day fest of stamping inspiration! We start off with a Take Ten Challenge - by selecting an image/color combo for inspiration.  Here is what I picked:

I liked the fall feel of these colors so I went from there and pulled out that amazing fox from Stylized Autumn to create my card!

I used a woodgrain card stock panel for my base and inked it over to bring out the texture.

More cards to come! Thanks for visiting!

Altenew Academy Muse Class: Party and Paper Goods

Another fun day of Altenew Academy's Muse Class- this time party and paper goods! Like most card makers, I love party supplies and paper-y goodness like stationary! Here is the image (credit) I was inspired by:

Floral Petite Gift Bag - Spritz™ : Target

I LOVE gift bags - they are the best eye candy! This one screamed at me because those flowers are the same one's in Altenew's Adore You set! yes!

Here is my card:

Thanks for visiting - this was the last lesson in the class. I loved the class and will use the skills in my every day card making!

Ingredients: Altenew Adore You, Label Love; MFT Sentiment Strips (die); Maude Asbury-Gabbie (patterned paper)

Altenew Academy Muse Class: Art

I am an Art History major so I was excited for the next lesson in Altenew Academy's Muse Class: Art. I love all kinds of art and finally settled on Pop Art images for inspiration. Here is my muse (I'm having trouble giving credit and finding the actual link for this but I believe it is a Marimekko piece):

Marimekko takes a stand on power of expression with an Unikko pattern place in Milan during design week. The range of Unikko colourways seen in the Milan installation represent the versatility and boldness that the pattern has had during each of the five past decades.

I love all these bold bright colors! To translate this into a card took some trial and error but I finally worked it out:

I love how this fun card turned out - it took a bit of planning but it was worth it!

Thanks for visiting! Still more to come!

Ingredients: Altenew Layered Floral Cover Dies A and B, Label Love; Reverse Confetti Tag Me (banner)

Altenew Academy Muse Class - Photography Muse

Next up in Altenew Academy's Muse Class - Photography. Wide range there for finding inspiration but this one was hard for me. I finally found an image that spoke to me here (credit):

i love these colors.

I love the bokeh look but when it came time to create my initial card idea did not work out. After some more trial and error I came up with this:

Thanks for visiting! Come back for more!

Ingredients: Altenew Halftone Stencil, Adore You; MFT Layered Treat Tag (banner)

Altenew Academy Muse Class - Home Decor Muse

My card for the next lesson in Altenew Academy's Muse Class is inspired by Home Decor. Who doesn't love home decor? I spent a ton of time looking for the right images to be inspired by and finally found it here (credit)!

Bold Pink Polka Dots Duvet CoverSaveSave

It is stunning! I love bright pink and black - one of my fav color combos! Here is my card interpretation of this fun and funky duvet cover (you can also buy this design in other forms):

I used a turquoise card base because it just made the card pop even more! Squeal!

Thanks for visiting! Still more to come!

Ingredients:
Altenew Halftone Stencil, Label Love

Altenew Academy Muse Class - Fashion Muse

We all struggle to find inspiration at times and I finally found the keys to help me get past lost mojo! Altenew Academy's Class: Muse opened my eyes to see inspiration all around. I recently fell in love with Altenew's products and could not wait to try out my new goodies for this class. The first lesson was about finding inspiration in fashion. Here is the image (credit) I chose:

Altenew Card Class Day 4

Last day of class for Altenew's Celebration: Stencil Techniques class :(
For Day 4 we learned a to ink blend with stencils over a watercolored background. Say what? This technique is new to me, but I will be trying it more!

I got creative with this card and cut out a portion of the flower image from the die cut of the Layered Floral cover plate - stretching those supplies!  And then I added some Wink of Stella to the flower for sparkle.

You can see some of the sparkle in this pic.

Loved this class and look forward to checking more out at Altenew Academy!

Thanks for visiting!

Ingredients: Altenew Halftone stencil, Floral Cover Plate Die B; PTI Boutique Borders: Mother

Altenew Card Class Day 3

I've had a busy weekend making mother's day cards featuring my new Altenew goodies for their Celebrations: Stencil Techniques class. For Day 3 we learned to stamp with our stencils. Being I only have one Altenew stencil (for now) I used my already well-loved Halftone stencil. I tried to use my Distress Oxide inks but wasn't having any luck so I went to my trusty Distress Inks and found success!

I love how this turned out!

Thanks for visiting!

Ingredients: Altenew Halftone stencil; Gel-a-tins Spring garden; Paper Smooches Kinfolk

Altenew Card Class Day 2

Back with another card for Day 2 of Altenew's class Celebration: Stencil Techniques. Today's class is all about embossing pastes! Love! Laurel Beard showed us 2 techniques - today's card showcases ink blending over dried embossing paste. Cool.idea. I tried it with translucent embossing paste and was very pleased with the results! Here is my card:

I LOVE this Halftone stencil! When I saw it I knew I had to have it! I can easily say this is my fav stencil in my collection!
I also carried the halftone theme and used Halftone Circles for the sentiment inside the card - see below:

Thanks for visiting!

Ingredients: Altenew Halftone stencil, Halftone Circles; STAMPlorations Framed Zinnia; Reverse Confetti Butterfly Dreams; SP&Co. Mother's Day

Altenew Card Class Day 1

I have fallen in love with Altenew! I have been watching this company a while and finally got my hands on some goodies and just in time for their latest class - Celebration: Stencil Techniques. For Day 1 of the class we learned to make stencils from our dies - love this idea. I have tried it with small images before, but for the class I used the sought-after Layered Floral Cover Die B. (I still have to get A!) I love how my card turned out - I used my new Distress Oxide Inks (another fun purchase!) to use with my stencil.  Check it out!

Thanks for visiting! More cards to come for this class!

Day 9 PTI 10th Anniversary

This is my last post for the Papertrey Ink 10th anniversary - I got burned out after making 8 cards in 1 1/2 days! That's gotta be a record for me!

We are now at the year 2015!

The 2015 post featured a Birthday Tags stamp set. There was another set in 2012 that I have and used in my card today. This is another card I struggled with, which was my brain's way of saying that my creativity was now tapped! LOL!

The base of this card was originally intended for the Party Time text block die but it wasn't working for me. (Sorry about the lighting I use my iPad to take pics and it was super sunny today.) Here is a detail pic of the banner at the top which I layered to tie in the autumn rose color.

Thanks for visiting and HAPPY 10TH ANNIVERSARY PTI! You have brought me a decade of amazing products to create cards for those I love and continue to inspire me! Can't wait to see what you have in store for us for the next decade!

Ingredients: PTI One Liners: Happy, Birthday Basics: Birthday Fun, 2012 Birthday Tags, Limitless Layers: Circles, Wet Paint

Day 8 of the PTI 10th Anniversary Celebration

On to another day of the Papertrey Ink 10th anniversary celebration! Just wanted to mention that I did not make a card for Day 7 (2013) because I was starting to lose the mojo after my monster card making session! I do have the Ruby Rose stamp set that was featured that year and use it often!

We are now into 2014!

2014 had some amazing stamp sets and great dies! I really embraced the die craze and sometimes ordered more dies than stamps!!! I loved Lizzie Jones' line of Text Block dies! I did struggle with this card for a bit with lots of trial and error for my design - including a failed mono-printing idea! Finally I had success!

I was very influenced by this card made by Lauren Bassen that was also featured in PTI's post for 2014. I created a stencil from the die and made some colored embossing pastes. My intention was to leave it at that point but it was hard to read the sentiment SO i die cut the text block and inserted into the blank space and went with it! The paste looks like frosting to me - great for a birthday card!

Thanks for visiting!

Ingredients: PTI Text Block: Party Time

PTI Day 6 of the 10th Anniversary Celebration

Whew we're at Day 6 of Papertrey Ink's 10th Anniversary festivities! The year is 2012!

This post featured another Heather Nichol's set - Sentiment Signs - which was a take on the subway text look.  I was very inspired by Keeway Tsao's swoon-worthy take on the set and used Ombre Sentiments: Birthday to recreate a card based on hers. I went with a slight twist in using black embossed text.

Thanks for visiting!

Ingredients: Ombre Sentiments: Birthday

PTI Day 5 10th Anniversary celebration

Papertrey Ink's 10th anniversary continues! The year is 2011!

Winter Penguin was featured in the 2011 post - I adore Heather Nichol's work and this was no exception!

I went with a wintery Christmas card inspired by this card I had pinned.

Thanks for visiting!

Ingredients: PTI Winter Penguin, Winter Snow Globe; Concord & 9th Joy die

PTI Day 4 of the Anniversary celebration

We are up to Day 4 of Papertrey Ink's 10th Anniversary celebration! The year is 2010!

My card today features the Beautiful Bloom's II stamp set featured! When I first started buying stamps it was to make holiday cards so that was pretty much what I bought, THEN I started making birthday cards and realized I need some floral stamps for all the cards for women I was going to make. I love this set because of the graphic nature of this set AND these stamps have dies - no more fussy cutting! Anyway here is my card.....

I got the inspiration for this card from this one I had pinned. I used 2 die cuts to create the layered look of the bright pink flower.

Thanks for visiting!

Ingredients: PTI Beautiful Blooms II, 2012 Birthday Tags (sentiment); Memory Box stencil

PTI Day 3 of Anniversary Celebration

Back with another card for Papertrey Ink's 10th Anniversary Celebration! We are up to 2009!

My card today features the Guide Lines stamp set since I do not have the Giga Guide Lines set featured. I went with a super simple thanks card.

The card base is soft stone card stock - the sun was super bright today so it may look more white in the pic.

Thanks for visiting!

Ingredients: Wet Paint, Guide Lines
