PTI MIM #157

For Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday the task is to create your own Cover Plate with dies. I love how Betsy Veldman comes up with such creative ideas!

I decided to make a halloween card (I make holiday cards year-round to avoid the last-minute crunch!) and created a "cover plate" with my little ghost die.

Loved how this turned out! I will definitely try this technique again.

Ingredients: PTI Boo to You; Doodlebug Halloween Parade pattern paper, Sprinkles (fall asst); MFT Blueprints 11 (panel)

Easter Greetings card

Easter is just around the corner so I made a card using the faux layered die cut technique I learned in Online Card Classes' Clean & Simple 3: One Layer Cards class.  I have used this technique a LOT! It takes some planning but I love the results!

Ingredients: Reverse Confetti: Carton Cuties; PTI Large Scallop Border die, Bitty Dot paper; MFT Blueprints 11 (panel)

Joy Snowflake Card for Festive Friday

I haven't participated in Festive Friday in a while and the current challenge (#27) features snowflakes (love them!) so I jumped in!

I tried to stay true to the soft colors in the photo and used PTI's shimmer card stock in Cream, Leaf and Silver. I adore this shimmer card stock! This card was really fast and simple to create!

Ingredients: MFT Jumbo Snowflake Die-namics, Joy Photo Card Frame; PTI Linen/Canvas Impression Plate

PTI March Blog Hop!

It's Blog Hop time! This monthly Papertrey Ink challenged us to create a project featuring High Gloss - created by using clear card stock, glossy accents, etc….

I originally planned to do a holiday card but decided instead to do a dual tag with vellum and clear card stock.  I also added some glossy accents to the balloon and heat embossed the "Big Birthday Wishes" sentiment.

Ingredients: PTI Birthday Style, BB: Birthday Fun, Birthday Bash Sentiments

Happy Birthday Card for CC6 & OCC

The current Card Concept challenge is to create a birthday card inspired by this pic:

My card style is  Clean & Graphic. I created a card using the faux layered/inlaid die technique to create a one layer card. I was also heaviliy inspired by this card by Sherrie. I love her layout and the "happy" die by PTI! I am also submitting this card for Online Card Classes' Clean & Simple 3: One Layer Cards class.

Here is the inside of the card:

Ingredients: PTI Tipped Tops ("happy"); MFT Birthday Sentiments, Party Balloons, Blueprint 11 (panel)

OCC: One Stamp Set, 4 Ways (ok really 2)

For Online Card Classes' Clean & Simple 3: One Later Cards class, it is the last day of class (:

For Day 11, the technique was to use one stamp set using 4 different techniques: Layered Stamping, Masking, Bokeh Effect and Marker Stamping. I used the Layered Stamping and Bokeh Effect techniques for my cards. (I don't have an water-based markers -yet- and could not figure out a way to showcase masking with the stamp set I chose).

The stamp set I chose is Paper Smooches' Crystal Clear stamp set.

My first card was made with the Layered Stamping Technique:

Ingredients: Paper Smooches Crystal Clear, Sentiment Sampler; Kaiser Kraft (Distressed) Grid

My second card features the bokeh effect technique. I did not incorporate the glitter that was demonstrated.

Ingredients: Paper Smooches Crystal Clear, Sentiment Sampler

I'd like to say that I really enjoyed this class -- I learned a lot of new techniques that really changed how I made one layer cards. All of the teachers did a great job on this one!

OCC: One Layer Cards - Selective Dry Embossing

For Days 9 & 10 of Online Card Classes' Clean & Simple 3: One Layer Cards class the techniques were all about creating texture. I made 2 cards showcasing the selective dry embossing technique.

My first card is very masculine - using a woodgrain embossing folder to create the texture effect.

Ingredients: Sizzix Tim Holtz Woodgrain embossing folder; PTI Mat Stack #4; MFT Gift Card Greetings

My second card is a Christmas card. I decided not to color in any spaces with color pencils and instead added a little pearls in a few spots.

Ingredients: Cuttlebug Ornaments Embossing Folder; PTI Mat Stack #4, Happiest of Holidays; Liquid Pearls

OCC: Creative Coloring

It's Day 7 of Online Card Classes' Clean & Simple 3: One Layer Cards class. The techniques today revoke around creative coloring (with markers). My coloring is usually done with Prismacolor pencils since I do not have Copic markers, but I did try this technique with my BIC Mark-It markers.

Here is my card:

I used 4 colors to create the vellum panel - Plumtastic Purple, Fandango Pink, Polynesian Purple and Petal Pink to create an ombre look. Since the word die was so intricate I did not die cut any tiny images like in the example. I really loved the tip to put the die cut word back in place to get those interior letter portions placed-genius!

OCC: Graffiti Stamped Card #2

Here is card #2 for Online Card Classes' Clean & Simple 3: One Layer Cards class - Days 5&6. On Day 6 Kryssi Ng showed a twist on the graffiti technique by using an image for the background. I don't have many solid images, so I pulled out Dot Spot to do the job.

I also stamped the inside of this card:

Ingredients: PTI Dot Spot; Mama Elephant: Say What, Good Times; MFT Birthday Sentiments

OCC: Graffiti Stamped Cards

Time for a card that features the graffiti stamping technique for Days 5&6 of Online Card Classes Clean & Simple 3: One Layer Cards class. Shari Carroll demonstrated this technique with an inlaid die cut word - love the combination!!!

Here is my card based on her method:

Thanks for visiting! Card #2 with a twist on this technique in the next post!

Ingredients: WPlus9: Seasonal Sentiments dies ("love" and heart); PTI Simply You, Love & Marriage, Signature Greetings II; Winnie & Walter: The Big, the Bold, and the Happy; Technique Tuesday: Ali Edwards' Simply You; MFT: Blueprints 11 (panel die)

OCC - Masked Background Technique Card

I had a very productive card-making weekend - 7 cards in 2 days! whew! All of them are for Online Card Classes' Clean & Simple 3: One Layer Cards class. Fun class and great techniques! For Days 5&6 the theme is "Backgrounds into the Foreground." I stink at backgrounds, so I dove into this to learn from the best! My first card today features the masked background technique.

Plaid patterns don't come easy to me, so I made my masked stripes fairly simple using PTI's dye inks in Berry Sorbet, Aqua Mist and Lemon Tart with my blender tool.

My other 2 cards will be in the posts to follow. Thanks for visiting!

OCC: Stamp Layering Technique

On to card #2 for Days 3&4 of Online Card Classes' Clean & Simple 3: One Layer Cards class!
The technique here is stamp layering - LOVE IT!! I don't use my background stamps nearly enough so this technique will help them get inky more! Here's my card:

The chevron background was inked with PTI's Chai ink.

Ingredients: MFT: Birthday Sentiments, Party Balloons; Mama Elephant: Modern Borders

OCC: Masking Technique Card

For Days 3&4 of Online Card Classes - Clean & Simple 3: One Layer Cards class the theme is optical illusion. For my first post, I used the masking technique. I don't do ink blending often so I played it safe with 2 colors (PTI's Aqua Mist and Lemon Tart). I really liked how this turned out!

Ingredients: Spellbinder Labels 8; Hero Arts Newspaper Background; Reverse Confetti: Forever Fall (sentiment)

OCC - Faux Layered Die Cuts Technique card

Back again with more for Online Card Classes: Clean & Simple 3: One Layer Cards class! This is my second post for Days 1&2 - the technique here is faux layered die cuts. I decided to make an easter card featuring this technique and for interest used patter papers.

This card took more time and planning than if it was really layered but it turned out great!

Ingredients: MFT: Blueprint 11 (panel); A Muse Studio: Peeps Trio; PTI: Scrambled Eggs (basket), In the Meadow (drifts - "grass"); Reverse Confetti: Carton Cuties (chick); SP&Co.: Easter Bunny Sentiments; Doodlebug: Sweetheart and Hello Spring pattern papers

OCC - Faux Metal Card

I am participating in Online Card Classes' Clean & Simple 3: One Layer Cards class! Love these classes! I really need help with one layer cards and I am learning a LOT from this class!  For Days 1&2 there are 3 techniques shown, for this first post I will showcase the Faux Metal technique.

This technique was harder than it looked! This card was my third attempt because I kept getting embossing powder everywhere that melted instantly because the card was warm. Ugh. In the end I love this look and would love to try this at the holidays!

Ingredients: Winnie & Walter stamps: Scenery: Big Bang Confetti, The Big, The Bold and the Happy; PTI Polka Dot Basics (dot)

Happy (early) St. Pat's Day!

I got a jump on my St. Patrick's Day cards and made mini cards!  My leprechaun was paper pieced and colored with Prismacolor pencils. I added some Wink of Stella Glitter to the gold colored areas and for his shoes I brushed in black Ranger Enamel Accents.

For the pattern paper I used papers from halloween and christmas paper collections - love stretching my supplies!

Ingredients: PS Spring Fling; Lawn Fawn Hats off to You (sentiment); Ranger Enamel Accents; Wink of Stella glitter marker; Doodlebug Halloween Parade pattern papers (orange houndstooth); Echo Park Holly Jolly Christmas pattern papers (green chevron)

MIM #154 (wow that many!) Thank You card

It's time for Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday Challenge! Since we are having a snow day today I got a jump on my card! For challenge #154, the challenge is to create a one layer card with texture. One layer cards are always hard for me. I usually make them too simple. I decided to layer my stamping and do a inlaid die cut to create texture without bulk.

I also put a little bling in the form of my Wink of Stella Glitter marker in the flower centers.

Happy Birthday card for Card Concept Challenge #4

I finally got a chance to participate in The Card Concept Challenge! This new challenge blog is based on your style plus inspiration from the challenge photo.  For challenge #4 the theme is floral.

My mother-in-law's birthday is coming up so this was the perfect opportunity to whip out my WPlus9 Fresh Cut Florals stamp set. I have loved this set from first setting eyes on it, but was a little imitated by all those layered pieces. This is the first card I've made using those stamps/dies and there was a lot of trial and error with placement and colors.

This card falls into the "Clean & Layered" style more than the others. I was inspired to create a bouquet of flowers with some soft springy colors.

Here is the inside of the card:

Ingredients: WPlus9 Fresh Cut Florals; PTI Movers & Shakers Sentiments ("birthday"), Linen/Canvas Impression plate, Mega Gracious Vases, One Liners: Happy, Mega Mat Stack 4; MFT Birthday Greetings (interior sentiment), Layered Treat Tag
