OCC Holiday Style Day 1 card

I love Online Card Classes! They teachers are so awesome, inspirational and creative! I was so happy to see they were presenting a holiday card class this year (Holiday Style) - it gives me that boost and inspiration to create. Day 1 of class was all about Clean & Simple cards - right up my alley. My card features the Simple Scenes technique Julie taught us. My scene is an ornament in the tree.

Instead of a drawn border around the scene, I used a black frame - love how it turned out. I created texture by using Snow-Tex and a stencil to add some "snow" to the scene.  I used it like embossing paste. Here's a detail pic:

Mondo Magnolia Birthday Card

I was thrilled to get my hands on Ellen Hutson's Mondo Magnolia stamp and dies - I love this large flower!!!!! I made a birthday card for a co-worker featuring this gorgeous image and have some fun techniques going on here.  I'm submitting this card to the Essentials by Ellen September Pin-Sights Challenge and the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Die Crazy.

Here is the inspiration Ellen provided:

And my card:

I was inspired by the pinks and greens and those gold stars! The flower is die cut from vellum, stamped with Versamark and heat embossed in gold! Gorgeous! I water colored the flower to give it color. The sentiment is also gold embossed.  The background is ink applied through a stencil on a panel.
